Bristol Photographer Tames Wild Vortex

I was lucky enough to be shown a picture of what I can only describe as an inside out view of a vortex. It’s the most beautiful view of a whirlpool I’ve ever seen, a truly spectacular result for someone who has obviously given some serious dedication to the art and craft of his chosen profession. Luckily, Paul was generous enough to let me post my new favourite thing on my own website.
Here its is…

Paul Groom’s Vortex

If you feel in need of a bigger fix, Paul has them to see as part of his case studies on his own content packed website. This is where you find a professional photographer who will overwhelm you with face value evidence of why he can get you the results you need. http://paulgroomphotography.co.uk

And to think I only asked Paul if I could feature one of his Westonbirt Arboretum photographs. I like my trees and waterfalls but I’m seriously thinking of doing a website with whirlpools (yeah and maybe some time lapse.)

No, really, I do love these pictures, the clarity is just breathtaking. If I was really there, I probably could take breaths underwater but with none of the usual side effects.

    Thanks Paul.

Hey Chris – really chuffed that you like my work, the vortex was a real labour of love and I’m glad it’s being appreciated! Love your 360 work by the way, I may be getting in touch to hire your services one day if the right job comes in.

    Thanks

    Paul

    I agree it’s a beautiful photo.

Oddly, there’s an exhibit at the National Maritime Museum on Greenwich, UK (about tsunamis) which provides a similar possibility, and I had a go at photographing it just the other week. The conditions were far from perfect. It’s nowhere as good as Paul’s, but it is similar in aim at least. it’s at my blog post at http://fizzogblog.typepad.com/fizzogblog/2009/03/a-terrible-beauty.html, if you want to have a look.

Bizarrely, I was at Westonbirt last weekend, and my photos from there can be seen at http://fizzogblog.typepad.com/fizzogblog/2009/03/national-arboretum.html and http://www.flickr.com/photos/fizzog/sets/72157615686645831/
