Splicing lyrics

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

A good game is mixing and matching song lyrics. You gotta sing ’em though. Like: “This is major Tom to ground control/you’re a rocket man!” etc. More fun is Billy Joel: “Play us a song, you’re the piano man/but you’re always a woman to me.” I reckon you could write whole poems this way. It’s like genetic engineering. Here’s the bastard offspring of David Bowie and Strapping Young Lad:

c’mon little kiddies
you know major tom’s a junkie
hey, you failed like god in me
have i got a treat for you.
i’ve never done good things
I’ve never done bad things
at first it tastes all yummy,
then you start to turn blue

come on, and ask you mommy
want an axe to break the ice
your pennies are in hand

you can tell me, who’s your filler now?
all i am, helped me, i’m the filler
you know major tom’s a junkie
strung out in heaven’s heights
hitting an all time low

Once you’ve got your flashy postmodern poetry all lined up you can find a place for it at The Writer’s Directory of Short Fiction and Poetry Publications.

This is a Quicktime Virtual Reality movie. This was shot early on the 29th April 2006. I plonked my tripod over this gateway to catch the morning rays.

Where is Inside Mac Radio? = Mac OS Ken

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

I’ve found Inside Mac Radio, it’s where they left it. I was wholly pissed off with being messed about, day in day out, by a podcast that was potentially great but generally late… or never.

Damon Hill: Corporate ethos is ruining F1

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

Damon Hill says, "Corporate ethos is ruining F1". I tend to agree. I also remember the Damon Hill seasons as being seasons where I would be disappointed if I didn’t get to watch the race. These days I just follow the gossip, developments and results on the internet; it’s the only interesting bit left.

I was talking to someone about Canon cameras and the EOS range in particular today. He’s a freelance photographer based in Bristol, very nice work indeed.
